Where is a good place to buy shoes?

Are New Look shoes decent quality? I just bought a pair of soft leather boots from Aldo but they are already worn out look from only a couple of times being worn... so where are good places to go?! Marks and Spencers? (I'm new to the UK, so I don't really know which places are good and which are crap)
