HDMI doesn't work won't detect?

So i got a 35 foot HDMI cable ( http://www.amazon.com/MONSTER-CABLE-123132-HDMI-Cable/product-reviews/B0002H1M9O/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1 ) with full 1080p support and all the good stuff and i plugged it in to my desktop and it doesn't work i switched it to the HDMI input on my tv and everything i tried reinstalling my video driver non worked now i have a hunch ever since 2 weeks ago my my Monitor stopped getting detected instead of having what model it is it has "Generic Non - PnP Monitor" so i though that might be part of the problem (if you could help me detect the monitor that would be great to) PLEASE RESPOND!!!
